Jesse meets a wonderful guy who is caring, attentive, lovable, and handsome to boot. Unfortunately, the only time he sees Cameron is in his dreams—dreams that are never flimsy and fast forgotten in the morning, but feel very real. And the longer they go on, the more palpable they feel to Jesse.

But what happens when these dreams have a bigger and bigger impact on Jesse’s daily life? When they begin to take a toll on him and make it harder to wake up every day? And what if they turn into nightmares and Jesse can’t get out anymore, if he never wakes up?

One day Cameron finds a heartbreaking poem in a small notebook, hidden in a used book. From the first time he reads it, the handwritten words resonate somewhere deep within him and when he goes to sleep that night, he meets Jesse for the first time—a sad young man who makes Cam want to give him reasons to smile and a shoulder to cry on. From that night on, Jesse is a nightly visitor in Cameron’s dreams.

But what happens when Cameron finds out that his Jesse is very much real? And what if a sinister presence takes hold of their shared dreams and Cameron wakes up? Can he get back to Jesse? Or will Jesse stay back forever in this dreamscape turned nightmare?

Where I'll be Waiting edition by Monika De Giorgi Literature Fiction eBooks

This is the first book that I've read by this author and I really enjoyed both the premise of the story and the execution.

We meet both characters, Jesse and Cameron through one of Jesse's dreams, not realizing that they aren't meeting in real time until Jesse wakes up. Neither Jesse nor Cameron have ever met each other, and aren't even sure if the other is real but they love their time spent together in the dream world they've created. Unfortunately their dream world takes it's toll on both men, as both are still exhausted when they wake up from their dreams.

Their world becomes more real when Jesse starts to take control of their dreams after talking to his best friend about everything. He suggests that Jesse guides the dream and encourages him to tell Cam to come and find him in the real world. Things take a turn for the dangerous though when Jesse falls deep into the dream world and is unable to resurface. This sends Jesse and even Cam, on a lesser extent, on a journey to both help Jesse heal from all the things life has thrown at him, and to strengthen their relationship.

You might be asking, "How do they have a relationship if they've never met?". This is a relationship that you really need to read the story in order to really see develop. There really is a strong connection between Jesse and Cam even before they physically meet, and that connection deepens as the story goes forward. This isn't what I'd consider a typical romance, while it does have a HEA at the end, the journey isn't just about Cam and Jesse falling in love. A large part of the journey is Jesse learning to fight his past demons and learning to accept himself and become a stronger person. This part of the story while not all rainbows and love scenes is actually a pretty powerful part of their journey. And yes, I state their journey because if Jesse hadn't learned to overcome the demons from his past, he and Cam wouldn't be able to make a solid future for themselves.

I was hooked from the first sentence and didn't want to put Where I'll Be Waiting down until I'd finished the entire book. The characters are engaging and show both personal and relationship growth through out the scope of the book. The plot and pacing of the story were both pretty close to perfect for this reader. The only thing I'd have liked is a bit more at the ending between Cam and Jesse in the real world, outside of their dream scenarios. That's not a bad thing that it isn't there, it's just one of those reader's quirks for me that I'd like a little more closure to the HEA.

Where I'll Be Waiting is definitely a book to pick up if you like something a little different, or if you love the paranormal side of romance.

Where I'll be Waiting edition by Monika De Giorgi Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

1) A lovely story, with twists and turns that kept me hooked.

2) Haunting and unique.
One of the elements that make me raise a rating for a read is when the subject matter or the plot itself grabs me in such a way that I have to stop reading and begin over. With Where I'll Be Waiting, it took me finishing the first chapter before I decided, wait, this is different and needs a second and more intense consideration. Once I got down to this read, it blew me away. Now, why?

If you were to read the blurb, it's like a supernatural story of a man dreaming of another and they get taken to a different level of relationship that is very hard to understand. Fortunately, I love the study of dreams and relish the theories and hypothesis of the abilities of the brain. In this book, Jesse's mind takes him to a different level of experience and touches that of another mind, Cam's.

The study of the brain and the mind has been going on for centuries. Nobody could really figure it out. We can all go to the stats and say the number of cells, synapses and the parts of the brain etcetera and never even understand one iota of what it all means. Another study says, and I think we all agree, that our brain as we use it now does not even touch the barest minimum capacity. In short we humans have a whole lot of brain and we're not using it.

But what if we are? What if we, unconsciously, do something to trigger that unidentifiable thing in our brain and use it more than we thought we ever could or have studied? What if somehow we manage to trigger something in our brain and it reached out to another?

And how about our dreams. Why do we dream? What are the meanings behind what our mind is trying to tell us? Do you believe in dreams? — and many more questions...

A mind cried out for help and somehow, it managed to reach out to another and connected. Cam dreamed of Jesse and they talked and they loved. Who controlled the dreams? Was it Cam? Was it Jesse?

I didn't see this read as a romance although it is one. I didn't read this for entertainment, but it sure as heck is one. The romance and appeal of this story is beautiful, the connection between the men more than physical. I read this as someone who is a science and psychology geek and loved how the author somehow managed to give voice to a lot of questions many have asked before and wrote a story to tell it.

Overall, this is a huge surprise hit for me and for those of you who like to speculate and ask the what ifs, then this is for you. No, this is not supernatural, neither is it paranormal, it is in fact, an incredible piece of speculative science fiction.
